Here it is 2021, and the previous reviews could still stand true. This trial is taken over by homeless camps, and we didn't feel safe to walk more than twenty yards down the trial. The pictures on this site NEED to desperately be updated, or the trial cleaned up.
Great greenway with spots to park at various sections along the way. There’s a park across the street from the main entrance with lots to do. Some big hills that will get you breathing on each end if the trail. And if you start at one end and take it all the way, it’s an easy flat ride/walk with sidewalks the whole way back to where you started. You will have to cross the street a few times to go all the way around
Wow, what a really nice trail. Nearly all the trail has canopy and we rode when the foliage was turning. Saw turkey and deer while riding. Great overlooks with swings to take a break and look at the scenery. Diffently a 5 star trail.
My wife & I rode this trail today. It was awesome. If you start at 2 Rivers Park, don’t miss the first couple miles of the trail with the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River.
Definitely a must, if you’ve never been here before.
12 miles of trail from Thompson lane to Barfield park. Some areas are more congested than others, but overall not crowded. Add in the battlefield trails and Gateway Island loop for pretty scenery and a history lesson. There are multiple trailheads for access across the entire town. Several of the trailheads have public restrooms that are reasonably clean.
I have ridden this trail numerous times from Ashland City and found the best time to ride is in the Spring or Fall when the leaves have fallen. This give you a much better view of the beautiful Cumberland River. The course is relatively easy.
First time on this trail. I planned to ride from the Percey Preist Dam to Shelby Bottoms. Made a mistake by leaving Lebanon Rode and riding up to the golf course near Ravenswood Mansion. I should have continued west down Lebanon road to the YMCA trailhead. Spoke to several people on the ride who said the trail from the YMCA to Shelby Bottoms was closed due to the earlier spring tornado, does anyone know if this is correct? thx
Versatile landscapes, a level trail, along the Harpeth River and beyond into Edwin Warner Park. It won’t disappoint!
This greenway is a lovely set of loops and straights, with the bonus of the Cornelia Fort Airpark!
Lots of access points so you can have your pick of riding distance and scenery.
As with many Greenways in the area, it can be very crowded so please be polite and give space to those on foot, calling out ahead of time when you are on your bike!
Starting off from the dam and going to the Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge is a very pleasant ride. Makes for a great out and back!
Mostly shaded with some beautiful bridges, fields and open spaces. The climb between the Waterworks and McGavock is challenging for new riders but rewarding. Lots of segments to split up the ride if you are limited on time.
Water and restrooms working and plentiful at the dam terminus.
Taking away one star because of the current outage near the Polo Park apartments requiring passing through the apartment complex and then riding surface roads to the trailhead by Kohl's.
It can be very crowded near the terminuses and trailheads so please use caution and call out if you are riding.
