great place to start. plenty of free parking, restrooms, pickle ball & tennis courts avaible. ride to s. hero island is unique, heading into lake champlain on the way to s. hero island. island has restrooms. farms, resturants, & much more. toltal distance was apx. 20 miles. this includes a short bike ferry ride to complete the trip. locals were pleasant, helpful, & courteous. not too often you get to ride a bike onto a lake!

Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail

Good scenic ride June 2023

September, 2023 by richmedcraft

I rode the trail in June 2023 starting in St Albans and went 13 miles out and back. I don't know if the flooding affected the trail since I am not from the area but it was a good ride at that time. The surface is crushed stone and was in good condition and the scenery is mostly farming country. I did see an osprey nesting on the bridge at Swanton. Gentle steady grade the whole time and I was able to keep up a steady pace. I hope the trail is OK now.

Island Line Rail Trail

Epic trail. Green Mountains in one side Adirondack Mountains on the other. Lake Champlain in the middle and the bike trail. Includes a ferry ride.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Love this well maintained trail.

July, 2023 by hogie52

Lots to see on an easy ride with plenty of cool places to stop and eat.
The W. Danville store and Joe's pond as well as many scenic views and parking. The whole trail is now completed except I'm worried about the rain and possible damage. So, I will call the shuttle service in St. J to find out about the access after the recent storm.

Battell Woods Trail

mountain Bike trail

This is not your typical rail trail but a hilly narrow mountain bike trail. Lots of roots, ruts and mosquitos

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Wonderful Trail

July, 2023 by dianewien

What a great trail, and I'm so glad it's finished. We rode 23 miles round-trip yesterday east from Morrisville on the newly opened area and it was just beautiful. Today we rode west from Morrisville to Jeffersonville, also a beautiful ride. The only issue is that there are a few spots just west of Morrisville that are not in good shape; soft sand and/or large, loose gravel. Other than that a fabulous trail. One other thing....on a hot day, make sure to bring lots of water!

Swanton Recreation Path

cute path!

This is a nice walk through Swanton. Perfect for meeting a friend, walking the dogs, or letting small children test out a bike or 3-wheeler. This path connects to the MVRT.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Still Not Complete

June, 2023 by mike419

VTRANS missed the Memorial Day target for finishing Fisher bridge - it is still closed as of 6/4 - just like they missed their announced completion of 11/2022. Don't count on VTRANS.
The bridge still looks like it has several weeks to go before opening. They have closed the trail for about a mile. The only way around is to ride along Rt 15, which is a bit dicey.
Also, there used to be access to the rail trail from the Fisher bridge parking lot. VTRANS has eliminated that access. The only way to access the trail from the parking lot is to, yup you guessed it, to go on Rt 15 again to access the trail.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Not Complete

April, 2023 by mike419

The Fisher Bridge in Wolcott is closed. The only way to get around it involves a ride on Rt15 for several miles. Traffic can be iffy. Estimated completion of work on the bridge is end of May.
Also, there is a large sink hole in the trail SE of Bayley Hazen Rd in Walden. The trail has been closed while the sink hole is evaluated. No estimate available for the fix.
Overall, the sandy surface from Hardwick to Walden is a bit soft and has quite a few indents from traffic (bikes, walkers, dogs, horses). Hopefully, it will pack better and smooth out with more traffic. LVRT maintenance has said they won't be rolling it again.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Basically complete

January, 2023 by bill.mason7680

The trail is complete with one very minor exception. There is a spot east of Wolcott village were a rockslide has meant additional construction and a delay in opening the entire trail. One note: Someone posted a review about parking and a trailhead in St. Albans. That confused individual was on the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail, not this one.

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail

Adventure summer 2023

January, 2023 by ckittell

We love this trail and have done all of the finished sections many times. Our goal is to bike from end to end ( and back again), staying overnight in Morrisville area. Really looking forward to it!

Stowe Recreation Path

Nice paved path with some caveats

August, 2022 by andrix

Stowe is first and foremost a heavy tourist town. We biked on Thursday and the streets, parking - and trail - were loaded with kids, dogs, strollers, scooters, joggers and of course bikes. The trail is in very good shape but the 10 or so bridges crossing the river are very narrow. Scenery is exceptional with great mountain and river views. The western most 3 miles are less crowded. The restaurants and shops along the path are nice - but also add to trail turbulence. A lot of effort for a 10 mile r/t ride.
