Yampa River Core Trail

perfect ride

September, 2024 by vailliencourts

Midweek ride, not many people on the trail. Beautiful scenery, spots to stop, close to town so you could stop for a meal/drink. Best thing for me was the Botanic Garden. The gate is on the trail. So beautiful!!

This trail is amazing for an easy day! You can tube down the Yampa River, walk or ride to the free Yampa Botanic Park or to downtown Steamboat Springs!

Yampa River Core Trail

Worth a Trip

August, 2015 by ajw

Steamboat isnt easy to get to, but if you want a scenic getaway, throw your bikes on the car, and make a day of it (or you can rent there). The trail is mostly flat and concrete. It runs along the Yampa River. In the summer there are tons of people inner tubing down the river/stream (several places rent tubes and shuttle you back upstream). This makes for fun scenery along the way. There are several parks that offer parking, rest rooms etc, and the trail runs close to downtown which is worth a diversion. Also, take a few minutes to walk around the botanical garden - impressive. The trail so far is only 7mi long, but theres a lot to see and do in that short distance. Only 4 stars because of the short length (so far) and the length of the trip to get there.

Biked this trail August, 2012. Loved it. Lots to see and beautiful along the river. Be sure to stop at the Botanical Gardens. It is free. Wish it was longer. Surface good. Riding hybrids.

Yampa River & Walton Creek Trails

August, 2008 by noel.keler

Started this trail at its current west end with parking and facilities. It is also the turn around point for the free bus shuttle at N40.49358 W106.85055 elev 6719’. This trail has the most activities packed into 7 miles I have experienced. The Howelsen Hill, Winter and Green Summer Ski Jump and Gondola, Botanic Park, Fly Fishing, Art Depot, Sculptures, Rodeo Grounds, Sport Field Complex, Old Town Dining, Quiet natural areas, and much more. The trail surface is in excellent condition. It joins the Walton Creek Trail and ends at N40.44483 W106.81304 elev 6803’. By Noel Keller 6 Aug 08
