Stones River Greenway

Nice trail, but somewhat hilly

October, 2019 by stvatandem

Started from the Two Rivers Parkway Trailhead (at the skatepark) and rode to the dam, about 8 miles away. There are a couple of steep hills for you to practice/hone your hill climbing technique. The various bridges that the trail crosses have fairly smooth transitions. Route signs are adequate, but a few more would be helpful.
Although paved, there are some areas where the asphalt has cracks/puckers from tree roots. Much of the trail is shaded by overhanging trees, which keep things cool during the day; but also a bit too cool as the sun goes down.
Overall, its a good trail.

Really enjoyed the variety of scenery along this ride.

Stones River Greenway

Hills!

September, 2019 by markmoore006_tl

Awesome path especially if you love hills. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it could stand to have restrooms and water more often. There it one at the beginning, one at 3 miles if you want to count Kohl's, and a nasty port-o-potty at Two Rivers around mile 8(?). After that there is a restroom at Shelby Bottoms a few more miles away.

Shelby Bottoms Greenway

Nice trail that connects with downtown

May, 2019 by normanbowers

Flat smooth shaded trail along the river. Trail ends at Shelby Park, but you can take the delineated trail along the river side of Davidson Street downtown via the pedestrian bridge over the river. Unless there is a game consider riding around Titans stadium. There is no drinking water along the trail.

Consider parking at Two Rivers Park where this trail meets the Stones River Greenway. 2320 Two Rivers Parkway, Nashville.

Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail

Regular Rider

May, 2019 by jharch

I ride this trail on a regular basis. It is quiet and mostly shaded. The asphalt paving can be rough in some areas due to tree roots growing under the paving but overall it is not a problem. Quite a bit of traffic at times, both walkers and cyclist. Lots of wildlife and some really nice views of the river.

Outstanding

I am an avid trail bicycle rider and this is my favorite for middle Tennessee. Not too long but very well laid out and maintained. This coupled with the really nice park that joins it makes a wonderful public space with something for everyone.

Great river views

I run on this trail every week and it is especially beautiful in the morning with the mist rising off the river. Great trail along river that connects to downtown.

Beautiful walking trail!

January, 2019 by blessedjcm

I went with my son and two grandchildren in the Fall. It was so beautiful and peaceful! The paved part was easy enough for almost anyone to walk. We did not go on the gravel portion. Several trees at the beginning were labeled with type if you look closely. The trail was clean. I hope to go again at different times of the year!

Springfield Greenway

Easily accessible

January, 2019 by blessedjcm

This trail can be use by most anyone. It provides a wide variety of scenery and activities including creek (no swimming), playground, corn (when in season), pond, ducks, and much more. The trail is wide allowing easy passage. It is kept clean. There are several stopping points to meet your needs and several different parking accesses as well as trash cans. There is also a dog park at the Garner Street Park access which allows your dog to run free in a large fenced area. Please always, in the dog park and on the trail, clean up after yourself and your dog. Thank you.

Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail

Nuts and ruts and butts!

September, 2018 by aparrott58

Beautiful scenery. Easy trail grade overall. Saw some very large sycamore trees. Saw soft shell turtles, frogs and box turtles on the trail and great blue herons at the waters edge. Only drawbacks: 5 of the six bridge approaches were hernia busters, some at least 3-4 inches high; no mileage signs at all, no maps at the TH, no maps on the kiosks either (like to take a photo of map to use as guide), no real TH at Lock A either. Still a good trail despite the roots and washouts and the frequent and large black walnut husks and osage oranges. Hitting those items at speed could cause a wreck. I think I knocked the box turtle with my bike. I hope the fella pulls through. Hard to see him with all the leaf litter, branches, dirt and rocks on the trail.

Cumberland River Greenway

Ugly

I don't get the 5 star reviews or the trail description. Rode from behind Titans stadium to trail end. It is 14.26 miles round trip. After you clear the Riverfront area full of trash and homeless, the first half of the trail is past warehouses, and cement factories. You can't see the river at all. When you clear that you still have warehouses on the land side and the view in this section of the river ain't much. No water and one porta-potie that I assume is associated with the golf course.

AKA Music City Greenway

Nice ride along the Cumberland River, but you’d never know it. While grass around the trail was well maintained, undergrowth from trail to river blocks over 90% of water view. Otherwise, loved the experience.
