The trailhead was very hard to find and when we got there we were the only one there. It didn’t feel very safe. We expected a 7 mile ride but as other reviewers pointed out the trail ends and you are left at a dangerous intersection with no crosswalks. We did cross the road and ride to the end of the trail but we were not impressed. The man-o-war trail is about 30 minutes away and is much more enjoyable. We spent a day on it and loved it.
We had a hard time finding the parking for this trail. Directions on one of the earlier reviews was misleading and wrong. We finally found the north end of the trail and parking after several turn arounds. Off I 85 N heading to Atlanta take exit 79 to Valley. Turn right onto Hwy 29. Follow to 35th street, turn right. Then follow to turn left onto 22nd St. parking is at end of Street where trail begins.
The trail ends after about 1 1/2 miles. Go to right on Hwy 29 and you will see the trail again after about a half mile on the left side of the road.
We thought the beginning and ends of the trail were the nicest parts. Wooded and quiet. Mid section goes through the center of Valley along Hwy 29. Lots of traffic!
The trail itself was nice, but a couple of the parking lots were overgrown. We did not feel safe in the area.
Actually a nice trail in a has been mill town.
The trails do have a couple of switch backs at the south end, but these are easily identifiable. As others mentioned, the four lane crossing is the most confusing area near the old Langdale Mill. Just look well across Highway 29 to see where the trail picks up again.

The trail is nicely paved and lightly used. Unfortunately, the historical signs have fallen into disrepair. The trail could use paint on the ground if nothing else to give directions where confusion may exist.
Note - watch out for the missing barrier plates on the ground at road crossings that may puncture your tire if you are not careful.

This was hard to find and harder to find the start. No maps of the trail were posted where I parked (somewhere near 22nd). I was a bit sketched on leaving my car unattended as some rando in a pedo van was sitting there (left when I got out). Anyways, I made it 1.3 and had no clue where to go but back. Judging by the money spent on the city hall, I’m sure they could use some to pick the trash up along the trail. I wouldn’t recommend this trail without figuring the whole trail out.
Took a while to figure this trail(s?). It seems that it’s broken in sections with no parking area really identified. The one I did find was a bit shifty (off 22nd st). Some rando in a pedo can was just sitting there. I couldn’t figure out why there’s trash all along the trail. Judging by the amount of money put into the trail and the city hall, you’d think it’d be clean. The section I did run was 1.3. Also, no trail map at the beginning or my end (it was an end point).
This was our first experience with this trail. I like that it's been newly paved. Not a huge amount of scenery on this trail but nice blend of small Alabama town and woods. I wish there was better signage. We got slightly confused with the 4-lane crossing because the trail just abruptly ends and you can't visibly see where it starts across the Hwy 29 4-lane. Mostly level trail. I was hoping the trail would take you down to the Chattahoochee River but it just abruptly stops once again. Would be nice if they could somehow incorporate the trail with the river. But overall, a nice ride and nice trail.
I guess I expected much more... The trail was a little confusing to follow and we wound up on a main road for half a mile. We found the correct place to cross on the way back and we’re able to avoid riding on the road other than crossing streets. There is one section going through a wooded area that was very nice.
Parked at an old farmers market at the very north end of the trail. Rode both spurs on the south end to their ends and back 11 miles TOTAL, so 5.5 miles of trail not 7. Fresh, smooth asphalt about 40/60 shaded/sun. Nice ride, nothing special.
So excited that this quaint little trail in valley, Alabama has been completely repaved. While you have to cross a large road for part of it(albeit only a mile and a half) it’s been greatly improved. I would suggest parking at the Langdale Mill site instead of the trail head off of 35th st. Much more visible and more traffic. So come ride this sweet little trail!!
we got on at the bridge and rode south. trail was newly paved a had a variety of scenery. small town living, forests, abandoned factories, a crazy mix. enjoyed the day. never went to northern section of the trail
