The Alborn-Pengilly Trail runs for 42 miles along a former railroad corridor between Pengilly and Alborn. The easy terrain is a mix of woodland, lakes and wetlands, open space, and the occasional cultivated field. It passes through the small community of Meadowlands and the even smaller communities of Prosit, Silica, and Elmer. Food is available at both end points and in Meadowlands and Silica.
The trail is open to ATVs between April 1 to November 30. In winter, the trail gets used by snowmobilers.
The trail is about 43 miles west of Iron Range OHV Recreation Area. Follow US 169/SR 65 southwest of Hibbing to Pengilly. Go 0.5 mile south on SR 65; parking and access is on the right just past CR 570.
In Meadowlands, take CR 133 to CR 469 and turn north. Go 3 blocks to Spruce St. and turn east. Access is just past the Trailside Lounge & Grill. In Alborn take County Highway 7/Mesabi Trunk Rd. to CR 47/Swan Lake Rd. Access is near the bar on the left.
