Circle L Trail Description

The Circle L Trail follows an abandoned logging railroad grade, which was used during the logging of the Bigfork River valley during the early 1900s. The trail passes through George Washington State Forest and also past the sites of old logging camps, some of which were used into the late 1960s.

The Circle L Trail meets up with the Circle T Trail east of Bass Lake. Despite its name, the Circle L Trail is not a loop but rather a connector between the Circle T Trail (which is a loop) and the Herb Brandstrom Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Access and parking for the Circle L Trail is at Larson Lake Campground and at the boat ramp. To reach the campground from Effie, take State Route 1 (E) 11 miles to Bass Lake Road; turn south and go about 2 miles to the junction; turn west and go 1 mile. The boat ramp is north of the campground at the northern tip of the lake.
