Just over half a mile in length, the Balloon Museum Trail is a paved asphalt pathway that runs along the side of Balloon Museum Drive, providing a convenient means of off-road transportation into the sprawling recreational complex that encompasses the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum and the Balloon Fiesta Park, some of the city's signature attractions. The trail runs north from Alameda Boulevard and the Alameda Trail, maintaining a fairly level slope along the outskirts of the compound - a side trail on the northern end allows you to head west over to the North Diversion Channel Trail, and sidewalks can carry you over a drain and into the park.
Parking is available at several large lots along the trail, off of Balloon Museum Drive. To reach the trail from Interstate 25, take exit 233 and head west on Alameda Boulevard for about a mile; the entrance to the compound will be on the right.
