The Belden Trail is a short neighborhood path in west Brownsville, which opened on an abandoned Union Pacific Railroad (formerly St. Louis, Brownsville & Mexico Railway) corridor in 2013. The smooth trail is surfaced with durable concrete, and benches and lights line the route.
In the east, the paved trail begins at Prax Orive Jr. (Sunrise) Park, where it crosses Town Resaca, a lake frequented by a variety of birds. Near the trail's midpoint, it passes behind the bleachers of Sams Memorial Stadium, the home of Brownsville Independent School District football games since 1954. The trail ends in the west at Skinner Elementary School, making the trail a safe route to school for many students in the surrounding area.
Parking for the Belden Trail is available at Prax Orive Jr. (Sunrise) Park. The parking lot is on W. 1st Street off W. Van Buren Street (north of Palm Boulevard).
