The Coal Mine Trail is a short sidepath trail that connects the Columbine Trail with the Dutch Creek Regional Trail, running for most of its length alongside Coal Mine Avenue in the suburban community of Columbine.
The trail branches off from the Columbine Trail on the north side of Coal Mine Avenue, heading west along the side of the road as an asphalt path. Upon reaching Sheridan Blvd, users can either turn north to link up with the beginning of the Dutch Creek Regional Trail within Weaver Park, or continue west along the side of the road, where the trail eventually meets up again with the Dutch Creek Regional Trail just past the intersection with S Webster Street. A wholly utilitarian trail, the Coal Mine Trail nonetheless provides a valuable off-road connection in the area trail network.
There is no dedicated trail parking for this trail. On-street parking may be available near the trail; be sure to follow any posted signs and warnings.
Explore Littleton. This trail provides a safe way to navigate town with access to the Columbine and Dutch Creek trails. The beautiful landscaping is an added bonus.
