The Iron Horse Trail runs along the corridor of a railroad that originally connected Alliance and Minerva. The north section runs from State St, across from the University of Mount Union, to the corner of Shunk Ave and Athletic Ct. The route then travels along residential streets to the main trailhead at the First Christian Church. The longer section of the Iron Horse Trail begins here and runs for 3 miles. The area around this section is mostly farmland, but the trail itself is covered by trees. At Bayton St, the trail passes a small pond. The Iron Horse Trail ends at Cenfield St, a small, rural road.
Parking is available at the Iron Horse Trailhead at 1141 W Beech St, next to the First Christian Church.
