The Mariposa Trail begins on the doorstep of Petroglyph National Monument, an important natural resource and archeological site, and travels north through the Taylor Ranch neighborhood to Mariposa Basin Park. The park, a popular site for birdwatching and balloon-watching, also hosts a variety of athletic fields - all accessible by foot or bike from neighborhoods to the south thanks to the Mariposa Trail.
The southern end of the trail branches off from the Unser Boulevard Trail, and the northern end offers a connection across Kachina Street to the Mariposa Basin Recreation Trail within the park.
Parking is available in Mariposa Basin Park, at the trail's northern tip.
Goes from Unser to Mariposa Park. From there you can take a trail west to Boca Negra Canyon or get on the Riverside trail.
