The extensive Hartwick Pines State Park is one of the largest in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The scenic region is marked by rolling hills overlooking the valley of the east branch of the Ausable River. You'll also find several small lakes and unique stands of timber, including 49 acres of old-growth pine. Hartwick Pines State Park has 20 miles of multi-use trails, including the 2.2 mile Mertz Grade Trail which follows an old railroad logging grade.
Hartwick Pines State Park is located in Crawford County, Northeast of Grayling on M-93, Exit 259 off I-75 and parking is available.
