The short Nell G. Smith River Walk is a paved trail along the western banks of the Sunflower River, right in the heart of the historic Mississippi Delta community of Clarkesdale. The trail offers around a half-mile of asphalt surface for local pedestrians and cyclists to recreate on, while providing a nice scenic path for visitors drawn to the town's rich literary and musical history to get outdoors and stretch their legs.
Just across the river, the Delta Blues Museum provides one of the area's big tourist draws, where interested parties can learn more about the remarkable number of talented musicians who once called the area home. The River Walk makes for a nice companion for those looking to explore the town, offering benches and tranquil overlooks of the Sunflower River along its wide, flat route. While too short to satisfy the needs of those looking for a longer run or ride, the River Walk makes for a perfectly pleasant spot to unwind or enjoy an afternoon stroll.
Parking is available at the north end of the path off of Riverside Avenue, just north from the 1st Street/Pecan Street Bridge.
