The loop known as Shelby Trails provides a short trail for exercise on a former Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad (later Illinois Central Railroad) corridor. The original train depot—now home to Shelby’s city library—is located just south of the loop.
The paved trail, which resembles a compressed running track, is one of several open on the out-of-service corridor. The others are the Duncan Walking Trail to the north and the Renova Heritage Walking Trail, Cleveland's Crosstie Walk, Boyle Rail-Trail, Shaw Rail-Trail and Hollandale Rail-Trail to the south.
Parking for Shelby Trails can be found adjacent to the loop in angled parking spots on N. Broadway Street. Shelby is located just off US 61/278 between Cleveland and Clarksdale.
