The North Shore Greenway will one day be a 7-mile paved pathway connecting parks, beaches, and the airport along the Maui coastline between the communities of Kahului, Spreckelsville, and Paia. Currently, the trail is completed in two disconnected segments.
On its west end, the trail begins at Kanaha Beach Park, an outdoor mecca for windsurfing, kite sailing, camping, canoeing, and volleyball. From the park, the trail heads east, around the back side of Kahului Airport, to end next to the Kaunoa Senior Center, for a distance of 1.7 miles.
After a short gap, the trail picks up at Baldwin Beach Park, a popular sandy beach for swimming with a grassy area for picnicking. From the park, the trail continues its eastward journey paralleling Hana Highway to Lower Paia Park, not far from Paia's busy downtown.
As of 2016, the process is underway to design the trail section that would fill in the missing link between the two open segments. The new section, which is anticipated to be completed in 2017, will run through Spreckelsville and past the Maui Country Club.
On its west end, parking and restrooms available in Kanaha Beach Park, located along Alahao Street in Kahului. On the trail's east end, parking and restrooms are available at Baldwin Beach Park and Lower Paia Park, both located off Hana Highway in Paia.
It was a very easy straight forward walk, plenty of beach stops, half way you’ll find a good truck (Thai fresh farm) A M A Z I N G! Highly recommended for biking or walking. Kids and family friendly
