An unremarkable community recreation path that spans suburban neighborhoods in Sparks, Nevada, the North Truckee Drain Trail follows the irrigation and flood control channel for a little over a mile, giving nearby residents a convenient path for strolls or dog-walking, as well as a way to access major shopping destinations without a vehicle.
The trail begins in the south outside a small subdivision in a charming neighborhood park. Heading north along the shrub-lined waterway, the trail leads past a local elementary school, paralleled on the other side of the drain by the Kiley Ranch South Trail. Crossing Los Altos Parkway, the trail continues on a corridor alongside Ion Drive, before coming to an end at Sparks Boulevard across from a golf course. With several other neighborhood trails in the area, the North Truckee Drain Trail helps form a neat little network for non-motorized transportation and recreation.
Parking is available at the park located at the southern end of the trail, on North Sand Crane Circle, just north from Disc Drive.
