The Panhandle Multi-Use Trail runs through Occoneechee State Park for 4.8 miles. It is a flat trail that stretches out onto the park's panhandle along the Roanoke River and must be traveled out-and-back for 9.6 miles total.
It is very popular with equestrians, mountain bikers, and hikers.
Parking for the Panhandle Multi-Use Trail is available at the Equestrian Campground. There is no access for the eastern end of the trail.
