Romence Road Bikeway is a utilitarian east-west route across Portage, a city just south of Kalamazoo. The west end of the paved pathway begins at Westnedge Avenue, adjacent to a shopping center anchored by a Sam’s Club. From there, the trail heads east, paralleling the south side of Romence Road until it meets Lovers Lane, where it crosses the roadway and begins paralleling the north side of the street.
Note that the route provides little shade, except where the trail passes through Portage Creek Bicentennial Park, where you can connect to the park’s trail that offers another 4 miles of riding. Both trails are part of the Portage Bikeway system, which encompasses 17.5 miles of paved trails for biking, walking, and rollerblading.
Parking can be found on the west end of the trail in the shopping area south of Romence Road.
It's way too short with nothing to see or do, so unless you're trying to jump on Lovers Lanes path or Portage Creek Bicentennial Park, I honestly wouldn't bother.
