The South Fork Trail is a multipurpose recreation path in the City of Middleton, a suburb of Madison, Wisconsin. It winds east to west, from beneath US-12/14 to the Pleasant View Golf Course. The trail provides a sliver of green space in a part of the city populated with apartments and condos, as well as office buildings, retail and hotels, meaning it can be used by employees as part of their commute to work.
The trail also parallels a Wisconsin and Southern Railroad track along South Pond, ending at Market Street, but is at a lower grade than the railroad. The South Fork Trail is well-marked, with bright center-lane striping dividing into two lanes. Beyond Market Street, meanders through stands of oak and other trees. The trail terminates at the public golf course across from Pleasant View Road.
Amenities on the trail include fitness stations, benches, drinking fountains and restrooms.
On the east end, you can park at the Quarry Skate Park (7701 Terrace Ave, Middleton).
This trail is short but riding from Middleton to Pleasant View is mostly uphill! Tough for recreational bikers. But pretty ride.
