Park along Harrison Street (blocks 9970 to 9600) and take a short spur trail to the Union Pacific Trail.
No directions for the trail on the website so I stopped at City Hall and got a map of the bike trails in Thornton. I found a Community Park Trail along an active Union Pacicic Railroad that was 0.6 miles long. No trail heads. Found an entrance off E 98 Ave N39.87299 W104.94464 elev 5227’, a residential street, waking up the dogs. This trail is not RR grade, 6 to 8.4 % short grades. It provides views of the Great Plains Horizon, the Denver City Skyline and if clear the Rocky Mountains. It passes under Thornton Pwy to surface on the sidewalk to the East or West along Thornton Parkway. The Parks map shows many other longer hard surface trails in Thornton.
Exit 220 I-25 East on Thornton Parkway which goes by City Hall where you can pick up a map. Then continue 1.9 mile and make a left onto Steele then first right on E 96th PL, curves to left into Harrison St. By Noel Keller 5 Aug 08
