Punta Gorda's Multi-Use Recreational Trail (MURT) begins on the south side of the city and heads northwest along US 41 (also known as Tamiami Trail). When complete, the trail will stretch 4 miles through the communities of Burnt Store Meadows, Burnt Store Isles, and Seminole Lakes.
From the trail's northern end on Airport Road, you can hop on the Shreve Street Connector to head toward downtown and the popular dining and shopping areas along Charlotte Harbor. On that end of the trail, two other key pieces of the city's extensive trail network can be reached: Linear Park and Harborwalk, which connect parks, businesses, and residential neighborhoods.
Just off the trail at Monaco Drive, you’ll find an interesting attraction: the Muscle Car Museum (3811 Tamiami Trail), which sports a collection of more than 200 classic cars and hot rods from the 1950s to 1970s.
