Virgin River South Trail Reviews

Great Trail

Location: St George, UT
Trail Condition: Wide new pavement in very good condition from Bloomington Park south.
Signage: St George trail system has excellent signage.
Comments: When we rode this trail last March this section of the trail was closed for repaving. They did a very nice job on this section of trail. Now need to repave the northern section of trail. The trail nicely parallels the river and away from traffic. Very nice trail. TrailLink implies that the south end of trail has a split and both spurs are part of Virgin River South Trail. However, the spur to the left (going south) is signed as Atkinville Trail. The trail goes a short distance then a break in the trail and picks up again for a short distance further on. Can’t say enough good things about the St George trail system and parks, can only get better with time and more inter-connectabilty (if such a word).

Do This One

Location: St. George, UT
Parking: Crosby Family Confluence Park
Trail Condition: Wide asphalt and smooth. Great shape. South end of trail from Man O War bridge south is closed and under construction until April with new asphalt being laid, etc.
Signage: We rode several trails on this ride and all had really good route direction signage and some informational signs. St. George has done a great job with their trail system, other communities should take note.
Comments: We picked up a 2019 St. George Park & Trail System Map & Guide. The updated guide shows current trail info. We started our ride on the Virgin River North Trail and connected to this trail at the really nice trail bridge at River Road. Per the St. George trail map the trail does go further north but we opted for the southern route and followed it to eventually reconnect with the Virgin River North Trail. This trail picks up again at the southern end of the Virgin River North Trail. That part of the trail is under construction, as mentioned above. A portion of this trail is part of the Mayor’s Loop (5.3 miles). These trails have underpasses when major streets are encountered and a number of trail bridges. There are a couple spur options off of this trail for more riding options. The trail goes through St. James park, very nice park with clean restrooms. Overall we really enjoyed all the trails and the scenery the St. George trail system had to offer. The trails are very popular with many folks (walkers & bikers) on them. People were friendly and offered a wave or hello.

Quiet Trail on South side of Virgin River

Very Quiet Trail !. Merging with the Fort Pearce Wash & Webb Hill Trail to connect with the Virgin River Trail by I-15. It is a smooth scenic ride, part of the Mayors Loop Trail, Noel Keller 27 Mar 2011
