Passing through the suburban community of Olathe, the W. Santa Fe Street Path is a sidepath that parallels W. Santa Fe Street. The path connects residential neighborhoods, commercial centers, religious facilities and parks. Near its midpoint, the trail links directly to the Rolling Ridge Trail.
The trail also provides access to Calamity Line Park, which was built where a rail line between Olathe and Lawrence once ran. The rail service was referred to by locals as the Calamity Line—hence the park’s name—due to its perpetual financial troubles. The park offers a picnic shelter, playground and loop trail.
Parking for the W. Santa Fe Street Path is available at Calamity Line Park on W. Santa Fe Street between Iowa Street and Marion Street.
