Yakima Greenway (Naches to Yakima) Description

The Yakima Greenway's Naches to Yakima segment is a work in progress, currently extending between the railroad depot in Naches and heading southeast toward Yakima, ending 3.5 miles later at Low Road. The trail follows a railbanked corridor along the east side of US 12 and is paved.

You can pick up another segment of the Yakima Greenway to the southeast near Lake Myron. There are plans to connect the segments.

Parking and Trail Access

You can park at the northern end of the trail along Railroad Street at Naches Avenue by the old depot in Naches.

Yakima Greenway (Naches to Yakima) Reviews

The Yakima Greenway pathway is now complete with 20 miles connection from Union Gap, Yakima, Selah and Naches.

The Naches segment of the Greenway Trail provides a third option to the popular Naches Loop bike ride. The Naches Loop utilizes Old Naches Highway and South Naches Road through orchards and farmland and along the Naches River for about 25 miles. Picking up the Greenway Trail either in Naches or at Suntides offers a direct route to either end of the Loop that is straight and flat, sloping downhill from Naches to Suntides and shortening the Loop by several miles. Soon the Greenway will be completed from 40th Ave. to Suntides making the Greenway a 20 mile trail from Naches to Union Gap.

Checked out the improvements to this trail today. The new trailhead facilities in Naches
are five star. The downtown area is a block away and there is a nice little pizza place with outdoor seating. Quiet place to rest and recharge. I talked to a worker at the trailhead and he said recent land purchases will now allow the plans to connect to the Yakima Greenway to continue. Immediate plans call for a new three mile stretch toward Yakima. Once this path reaches Yakima, Naches will be a great destination ride.

The asphalt is recent and there are several nice benches. There are a couple of roads that cross the trail. Straight as an arrow with no shade. The trail maintenance crew was out trimming trees and brush. It's well maintained.
