Boardwalks in the Woods - North Section

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Riverpoint park, and rode to the end where it turns to gravel (just past Bonny Oaks Dr.). 10mi round trip. They must have spent a mint on this trail. It is full of long boardwalks built in the woods on the banks of the river. Shaded with lots of scenery. Restrooms, water at Riverpoint park. Lots of ups and downs. Combine with Riverwalk trail for 22mi roundtrip.

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

Well Done

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Riverpoint park and rode the S.Chickamauga trail (see review there), then rode the Riverwalk east to the dam. Then turned around and rode the Riverwalk west to the Patten tennis club. The trail goes up a hill there, so we turned around and went back to Riverpoint parking. 12mi roundtrip on Riverwalk, 10mi roundtrip on S.Chick for a 22mi day. Trail is well maintained with lots of restrooms and water. It is shaded most of the way, and runs along the river with lots of good scenery. Tip: this is not a rail-trail, so there are some ups and downs, turns, and it can be a bit narrow and congested in parts.

Wolftever Creek Greenway

Nice trail

October, 2016 by tinneyea

Family friendly trail. Things to see and do: ponds with ducks and fountains. streams. Three playgrounds throughout the trail. Lots of shade. Bridges. Two tunnels. I went often during the week and it wasn't crowded. The traffic getting to the parking lot was bad though. I went around 4-5pm when a lot of people were going home from work. Overall, great trail for the family or the individual.

SIDEWALK

October, 2016 by tinneyea

Let's be honest, it's just a sidewalk. This "trail" shouldn't be on here. It's one step up from riding on the actual road. It's not family friendly and the cars that drive on the road next to the sidewalk go at a high rate of speed, which is a known issue in this area. When I saw a car going to fast in a curve and go up on the sidewalk, that was it for me. I prefer not having the fear of death while riding. No real views other than factories and the smell of mufflers. Yes, I really don't like this "trail" being on here.

This is 2 different trails

September, 2016 by bamakayaker

I rode the north portion of this trail by getting on it from the Riverwalk trail. It is absolutely beautiful! Nice bridges and elevated trail sections. One of my favorite trails! Quiet and peaceful. The southern portion of this trail was fine. The trail is in good shape but not nearly as scenic. I will be back to do the northern portion again but not the southern portion.

Trail Review

September, 2016 by jsun.morrow

Left from Camp Jordan and completed the trail to the end and came back. Overall trail was easy, flat, and a good ride. The only negative was where I had to do down a couple of flights of stairs to go under the highway and then go back up to get back to the trail. Very few people on it but it was a holiday.

Shade & scenery

September, 2016 by random1

Easy trail with plenty of shade for a hot day. There is beautiful scenery along the creek with numerous foot and railroad bridges. Bring your camera.

Nice...stay to yourself

August, 2016 by jalizonya

Great way for the city to spend my tax dollars. Love the new extension to st elmo. Thing is, apparently we've lost our southern hospitality so don't expect locals to yield any sort of right of way. Nice ride though.

Don't use the Ochs Highway parking lot!

June, 2016 by wgpatrick89

I parked in the Guild Hardy trailhead parking lot just off of Ochs Highway on 6/23/16 at about 10am. I noticed broken glass in the parking lot & a hand written sign taped to the trailhead that said something about recent break ins. I didn't give it too much thought because it's a nice area, right on a busy highway, & it was the middle of the day. I was gone for about 2 hours & came back to my passenger window busted out & a note in my car from another person that said to please call the police because their car got broken into as well. My point is- DON'T PARK HERE! Or just go to a different trail altogether beacause this one is all gravel anyway (yuck!).

Emaculate

I ride my mountain bike on the Riverwalk almost every day. I ride from the dam to Coolidge park and back. I'm amazed at how groomed it is at all times. I don't carry water because there are bathrooms and water fountains every 1.5 miles or so. I've ridden on many trails across the country and this is my favorite.

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

almost everyday

May, 2016 by rjchris

I ride from the damn to the 6 mile marker and back at least 5 days a week. There are bathrooms almost every 1.5 miles with many places to stop and rest
