January 1st 2021 I brought my dogs with for an hour’s easy walk. Parked in the parking lot just by the steel bridge. The parking lot is diagonally opposite the spot the GPS brought me to. The parking lot is opposite the Valero gas station.
You first cross a bridge spanning a huge area of Powell River, with roaring river sounds and lovely views. Then you walk through a short tunnel (43 feet long). The entire path is 1.2 miles each way. The end of the trail is just past the second (longer) tunnel. Dogs got a drink in one of the little streams. Did not see any bears despite it being fairly warm at 55 degrees. I felt safe walking there on my own with my dogs. Well worth the visit!!
Started at Johnson City entrance and rode to Sycamore Shoals near Elizabethton. Excellent surface and very wide. Next day, started in Elizabethton. Narrower trail with lots or barriers because trail crosses city streets.
I was so pleasantly surprised by this trail. It is paved and in great condition. There is a dog park, play ground, and restrooms. Also, very easy to access off of I-26. I will definitely return!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our great walking experience on this trail. One request we might suggest is a better observance of verbal announcements by cyclists approaching hikers from behind on the trail. Pls announce your approach as trail protocol requires. Collision between a bike tracking at high speed and an inspecting walker can end tragically. All in all, a great experience.
Great easy ride through parks and urban settings. Not challenging and nicely paved
We rode up with our bicycles. Took roughly 45 minutes with stops to take in the beautiful views. Recommend starting from the bottom (park right outside of the church) and ride up. The ride down is amazing! Enjoy!
Great trail for all ages and riders. Will definitely be 5¿ when it's completed. Don't forget to stop by The Store @ Mendota.
Enjoyable ride amongst the river enjoying nature. Have the ability to visit the island and old mill with easy access. Lots of rest points for smaller children or older adults.
Wonderful trail amongst river with lots of shade and benches for rest when needed! Very relaxing pace with ability to visit the Island and Old Mill from the trail.
Nicely maintained trail with beautiful views of the river. Nice shade/sun combination and so peaceful. Goes through/near a nice park with playground, a mini golf, and a skate park, so the whole family will live this one.
