Oxford Depot Trail

Great little segment, central, and convenient

This rail-trail is short and sweet. It's used frequently by students to get from the apartments on Molly Bar to the Ole Miss campus. It passes over Jackson Ave, behind Oxford Intermediate School, and by OPC's tennis courts. Parking is available at the Depot, but it is shared with parking for the University and there are no designated spots. So, I would park elsewhere if you are trying to access the trail during a weekday while classes are in session. Parking is also available at the Oxford Park Commission Activity Center (400 Price St) or at Stone Park on Washington Ave. The trail is paved and lit at night. I use this trail for running since it's location is very convenient.

South Campus Rail Trail

Awesome!!

Visiting Oxford and gave the trail a go for a run. What a gorgeous trail. Mostly flat with good footing. I didn't venture off the main trail, but saw some of them and they look challenging. There was plenty of company, but was not crowded. The trail is plenty wide. Loved it and look forward to running there again.

Thacker Mountain Run

November, 2013 by streak1

Ran the Thacker Mountain trail while in Oxford for an Ole Miss football game.Beautiful run, weather was rainy and cool.Even though trail was wet from rain,it was still in great shape for running.Recommend this trail for everyone. One interesting note, ran uphill from road near campus(Coliseum Drive)and when I turned around to run downhill,I thought I was still running uphill.Must have been an optical illusion.

Thacker Mountain Trails

Great trail system. Enough trail variety to appease whatever riding you enjoy most. From flat trailbed to hilly switchbacks. The woodsy scenery of the trails off the main track are top notch and offers some great opportunities to enjoy nature. For those who enjoy the sport/hobby of geocaching this trail system offers about a dozen well placed geocaches to enhance your trail enjoyment even further. Look for even more geocaches in the future as this large expanse offers space and locations for many more geocaches!

I have heard from several sources this trail systems is one of the best in the state.

Even though efforts have been made to mark and map these trails(and there are many) one of it's downfalls is lack of trailhead markers and directions back to the main trailhead. One could easily get lost and disoriented in the myriad of trails spanning out in all directions. GPS use is highly suggested unless you are familiar with the trail system.
