Bradford Creek Greenway

Hidden Gem

May, 2018 by bluesandy21

My husband walked this trail with me twice before he realized that, at points, it is flanked on either side with houses. It’s that easy to forget you’re in the city. Parking is ample and easy to access if using the lot attached to the elementary school property. (Cannot speak for the other) Everyone I have met has been as nice as could be and with a pretty flat and well shaded path it’s a delight.

Simms Mountain Trail

Great for kids

We didn't complete the trail but it was perfect for the kids (10 and 7). It was dirt and gravel with some hills but not too challenging.

Historic Bridgeport Walking Trail

Bridgeport Walking Trail-February 2018

February, 2018 by tltrumbull

We had a wonderful time walking the trail, seeing the old train depot and antique trains...but, our greatest thrill was encountering an active freight train on the parallel train tracks while crossing the beautiful pedestrian bridge this morning. The very friendly Conductors gave us several nice whistle blows and we enjoyed waving back at them. The walk across the Tennessee River on the old train trestle was a truly beautiful experience. Many thanks to all in Bridgeport.

Loved This Trail

November, 2017 by wwpppp

We drove up from Jacksonville, AL, where we ride the Chief Ladiga Bike Trail quite often. Riverwalk Trail was a wonderful surprise. The only negative was we felt that the trail could have been marked better, but, we will definitely be back. The views are amazing and the trail is VERY well maintained.

Tennessee River Greenway

Short Trail but Scenic Views of the Tennessee River

July, 2017 by rmheeth

This trail is part of the Huntsville Greenway system. The northern end of this trail is connected to the southern end of the Aldridge Creek Greenway at the entrance to Ditto Landing Park on Hobbs Island Road. There isn't a parking lot at this point but I guess you could park on the side of the road. The trail proceeds south for a short distance to the main part of the Ditto Landing Park. Although this trail has little or no markings or signs, Ditto Landing is small enough that it is hard to get lost. Just ride past the pavilion and south to the river, then turn east (left) and you will run into the main part of the greenway, a wide paved trail along the river.

A little ways down the trail, you will pass by an old warehouse with a large, flat concrete area going out to a docking port on the riverbank. This is the old State Docks which hasn't been used in decades. The trail continues on by the river to the Madison County Marina at the east end of the trail.

This is a short but pretty trail with good views of the river including the US-231 bridge. You will often see a lot of small boats on the river with the occasional barge going by.

Although it is a short trail, combining this with the Aldridge Creek Greenway (another nice trail) makes for a very nice ride.

Chattanooga Riverwalk (Tennessee Riverpark)

Well Done

June, 2017 by ajw

We parked at Riverpoint park and rode the S.Chickamauga trail (see review there), then rode the Riverwalk east to the dam. Then turned around and rode the Riverwalk west to the Patten tennis club. The trail goes up a hill there, so we turned around and went back to Riverpoint parking. 12mi roundtrip on Riverwalk, 10mi roundtrip on S.Chick for a 22mi day. Trail is well maintained with lots of restrooms and water. It is shaded most of the way, and runs along the river with lots of good scenery. Tip: this is not a rail-trail, so there are some ups and downs, turns, and it can be a bit narrow and congested in parts.

Indian Creek Greenway (AL)

Worth the exercise

Awesome trail to run, walk, or bike. Runs along the creek, has multiple bridges, mostly flat surface, grass is cut on both sides to open up road. Saw rabbits, squirrels, cows, and horses along the trail.

Gateway Greenway

Good for Walking, Not So Good for Bikes

February, 2017 by rmheeth

This Greenway is really a path around a city park which contains a nice, extensive Memorial to Veterans. There is a nice parking lot near the middle of the trail. The greenway goes by the railroad track and under the highway overpass, going around the Veterans Memorial past various displays, memorials and extensive fountains. It is a short but great walk. For bikes, however, it is not so great. Many of the sidewalks are rather narrow, weaving around the memorials. I found no signage identifying it as a greenway or path but it is so short and in a compact area, you really can't get lost. I will go back for the walk but will leave my bike at home.

Bradford Creek Greenway

Nice Greenway connecting Palmer Park to Heritage Elementary

October, 2016 by naderi57

Nice paved trail through woods and running along side Bradford creek. This Greenway is shady and cool in the summer and good for a quick ride/walk/run in the morning or after work, as well as to travel to some local businesses. New pavement links it to a short path at the Mill Creek Dog park traveling along Mill Road, a distance of about a mile. From Mill Road south it is .7 miles to Palmer Park. From Mill Road north, it is 1.7 miles to Heritage Elementary school.
From the School, you can continue on a paved path running the length of County line road, from HWY 72 to HWY 20, a distance approximately 5 miles. (nearly complete as of 10/2016)
Park at Mill Creek Dog Park, Mill Creek Elementary, Palmer Park, Heritage Elementary or parking lots along County Line Rd. for access.

Indian Creek Greenway (AL)

great bike trail

This is a great place to ride. Be careful of walkers and runners. They tend to be on the bike side of the path and cannot tell their left from their right. Otherwise a great place to ride.

Nice...stay to yourself

Great way for the city to spend my tax dollars. Love the new extension to st elmo. Thing is, apparently we've lost our southern hospitality so don't expect locals to yield any sort of right of way. Nice ride though.

Guild-Hardy Trail

Don't use the Ochs Highway parking lot!

June, 2016 by wgpatrick89

I parked in the Guild Hardy trailhead parking lot just off of Ochs Highway on 6/23/16 at about 10am. I noticed broken glass in the parking lot & a hand written sign taped to the trailhead that said something about recent break ins. I didn't give it too much thought because it's a nice area, right on a busy highway, & it was the middle of the day. I was gone for about 2 hours & came back to my passenger window busted out & a note in my car from another person that said to please call the police because their car got broken into as well. My point is- DON'T PARK HERE! Or just go to a different trail altogether beacause this one is all gravel anyway (yuck!).
