The short Alameda Arroyo Trail provides a nice paved path with adjacent crushed stone for joggers, connecting neighborhoods off of Roadrunner Parkway with the local middle school and the Sonoma Ranch Multi-Use Path to the east. The dry desert landscape means you'll want to come prepared with sunscreen, and be sure to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes along the trail! The path might not be the brightest star in the constellation of trails that makes up Las Cruces' trail network, but it provides a good option for residents looking to get outside for a stroll, and helps people travel to destinations along Sonoma Ranch Blvd. like the community college, local parks, and a number of shops and restaurants.
Parking is available at either end of the trail in the parking lots for the Camino Real Middle School; be sure to follow any posted parking signs and regulations. The western end of the trail is located off of Roadrunner Parkway, just a few blocks southeast of US-70. The eastern end of the trail is in the parking lot off of Sonoma Ranch Boulevard, also easily accessible by heading south from US-70.
