Creatively located in the wide median space on Engler Road in a northeastern neighborhood of Las Cruces, the Twin Parks Trail provides a neat little space for recreation and exercise. Featuring over a half-dozen fitness stations across its mile-long route, the trail takes a corridor previously inaccessible to pedestrians and cyclists and transforms it into useful space. Desert shrubs and foliage line the route, giving a little separation from the adjacent roadway, but trail users will have to look to the far-off mountains to get any real sense of natural beauty on this path. A local high school lies just a half-mile down Mesa Grande Drive from the eastern end of the trail, meaning the Twin Parks Trail provides a convenient route for students going to and from school.
No designated parking is available for this trail; be sure to follow any posted signs and regulations if using on-street parking. To reach the trail, take US-70 to Mesa Grande Drive and head north for a half-mile; the trail is located on Engler Road to the west.
