The first step in the small city of Donnelly's plan to build a network of trails around its borders, the Boulder Creek Trail is a short but lovely pathway. The gravel and boardwalk path runs through a restored wetlands area on the outskirts of town, giving residents the chance to experience some of the scenic beauty that its namesake creek has to offer, and also providing a place for students at the nearby elementary school to learn about nature in action. While only a small segment of trail currently exists, the local trail group Valley County Pathways has ambitious plans for the area, including utilizing the abandoned rail corridor that runs through Donnelly.
No dedicated trail parking is available; be sure to follow any posted signs and warnings when parking on-street.
To reach the trail from the direction of Boise, head north on State Route 55, through Cascade and into Donnelly. Turn right onto E Roseberry Road; the trail entrance will be on the right.
Saw a deer running along the river.
