The Carolina North Forest (aka the Horace Williams Tract) is made up of 750 acres owned by the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The forest and its trails provide respite for members of the UNC fraternity and residents of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Many of the trails are twisty singletracks, popular with runners and mountain bikers. The Carolina North Greenway is the only asphalt trail in the complex, a straight trail leading into the forest from Homestead Road, and ending at the intersection with the Pumpkin Loop, a wide, gravel path. The Greenway is an easy walk or ride for users of all ages.
