Clarksville's Discovery Trail is a welcome addition to southern Indiana's expanding network of trails. The trail sits on a disused CSX right-of-way stretching from Applegate Lane in the east to Silver Creek in the west, where connects to the Ohio River Greenway. The greenway travels for 5.6 miles atop the the Ohio River's levees. The trail also intersects with the Clarksville Heritage Trail, which goes into downtown Clarksville.
The trail is wide, flat and straight, and the only interruption to your walk or ride will come at the street intersections. Crossings are at grade and signalized, except for the furthest one west, which ducks under Old Indiana 62. There is a trailhead with parking on Eastern Boulevard but users can also access the trail on foot or by bike at Beechwood Park.
Park at the trailhead on Eastern Boulevard, across from Lynwood Drive.
Alternatively, you can park at Ray Lawrence Park near the east end of the trail and walk or ride to the trail -1100 Irving Drive, Clarksville.
Good condition, well lighted, good for walking and cycling. Nice amenities, well marked, security cameras in place, connects to other nearby trail systems.
