The Dovetail Recreation Trail is a short community pathway that runs through developing neighborhoods in the eastern edge of the suburb of Coralville, just north of Iowa City. The concrete trail offers a flat and pleasant route for a walk, jog, or quick ride; the trail encircles the quiet natural space of the Dovetail Recreation Area, which offers athletic facilities and a tranquil fishing pond.
To the south, the trail links up with the Oakdale Boulevard Trail - a sidepath trail that helps tie many of Coralville's trails together - and in the north, the trail ends just a short distance from the eastern end of the Muddy Creek Trail and the unprogrammed open space of Auburn Hills Park. For residents of the nearby neighborhoods, it's hard to beat the convenience of the Dovetail Recreation Trail.
No dedicated trail parking is provided for this trail. Trail access is available via the Oakdale Boulevard Trail, just east of 1st Avenue.
