The Embarcadero Bike Path is an important connector between the local commuter rail, schools, and a commercial area on Palo Alto's west side and the outskirts of Stanford University.
The paved pathway runs adjacent to the Caltrain tracks from the Palo Alto Station to the Palo Alto High School campus in a configuration known as rail-with-trail. Trees, landscaping, lighting, and fencing keep the experience pleasant and safe. Near the north end of the trail, be sure to visit El Camino Park, the city's oldest park, which dates back to 1914.
Parking and restrooms are available near the north end of the trail in El Camino Park (155 El Camino Real).
Travelers can also take public transportation to the Palo Alto Station (95 University Ave.) to reach the trail. Paid parking, as well as bike lockers, are available there.
