The Ensley-Pratt Greenway can be found in west Birmingham, traveling through two neighborhoods referenced in its name. Both communities were once standalone industrial towns but were incorporated into Birmingham in the early 20th century.
The trail begins at Avenue V just north of Village Creek. A bridge takes users across the creek into Ensley, following Avenue V. There’s a trailhead with parking there. Past that the trail peels away from the road and winds its way west to Avenue L Alley. It then heads straight north to Village Creek, where another bike-ped bridge takes it over the water and into Pratt City. Once in Pratt, the trail travels northwest, terminating at 10th Street.
The hard surface trail represents the first phase of a trail project known as the Village Creek Greenway, a 26-mile trail that will stretch from Ensley to Roebuck along the creek.
You can park at either end of the trail.
At the east end, parking can be found at the trailhead at 1221 Avenue V, Birmingham.
At the west end, parking can be found at 699 10th Street Pratt, Birmingham.
