A popular multiuse trail in Jefferson County, the Norwood Greenway stretches for 1.7 miles and provides a scenic route for walking, running, cycling, and other outdoor activities. Along the way, visitors can enjoy views of local neighborhoods.
The trail meanders through a linear park, which is bordered on both sides by Norwood Boulevard. Trees provide shade and there are lampposts, benches, trash receptacles, and signage along the route. There is a bike repair station where the trail crosses 32nd Street N. The paved trail is relatively flat and smooth, making it easy to navigate.
Norwood Park, located at the southwest end of the trail, includes an outdoor swimming pool, a playground, a community center, and basketball courts. There are tennis courts at the northeast end of the trail.
The Norwood Greenway is maintained by the City of Birmingham and is open year-round. It is a popular destination for families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and peaceful setting.
The trail is included in the Red Rock Trail System, a developing 750-mile network of multiuse trails in Jefferson County.
Parking is available at Norwood Park (1420 28th St N) by the southwest end of the trail.
