Winding through Birmingham's Crestwood South neighborhood, the Clairmont Avenue Walking Trail provides a scenic route for walking, running, cycling, and other outdoor activities. Along the way, visitors can enjoy views of the surrounding area and catch glimpses of downtown Birmingham through the trees.
The paved trail meanders through a narrow linear park, which is bordered on both sides by Clairmont Avenue. Trees provide shade and there are benches, trash receptacles, and signage along the 0.8-mile route. Located at the foot of Red Mountain, the route does get a bit hilly in sections. In a neighborhood without sidewalks, the trail is important for both recreation and connection.
The trail part of the Red Rock Trail System, a developing 750-mile network of multiuse trails in Jefferson County.
Street parking is available along Clairmont Avenue.
