Overview
The Gatlinburg Greenway is the city’s first and only greenway. Currently 0.4 miles long, it is already quite popular. It is fully paved and ADA compliant.
About the Route
Currently, the northern end of the greenway is Glades Road Pine Drive. Meandering south, the trail parallels Glades Road until it reaches the gravel parking lot at the corner of Glades Road and Walnut Road. There is a bench near the southern end of the trail. A recently built 300ft sidewalk with a split-rail fence will extend the greenway further south along Glades Road to the shopping center on US-321.
If the trail is completed, it will run about 2.1 miles to the northern end of Glades Road—providing a safe and efficient connection for pedestrians and cyclists between residences, local businesses, tourist attractions, and more. With no sidewalk along the busy Glades Road, the greenway has the potential to offer both recreational and active transportation opportunities for locals and tourists alike. The development of the trail is being led by the Gatlinburg Greenway Project, a local non-profit organization.
Parking is available at the southern end of the trail in a gravel parking lot on the corner of Glades Road and Walnut Road.
This is a 0.3 mile long, 8' wide asphalt paved offset 50' and parallel to a public road. To call this a "greenway" is a bit silly.
