Neyland Greenway Description

Across the First Creek Bridge from the James White Greenway is the Neyland Greenway. This paved, multiuse trail travels west along Knoxville’s industrial riverfront. There are several at-grade crossings where the trail switches from one side of Neyland Dr. to the other. A second bridge sits over the mouth of Third Creek as it meets the Tennessee River. The trail ends near the Alcoa Highway on-ramp.

Aside from being a scenic ride, the Neyland Trail connects to a number of destinations including the University of Tennessee Soccer Complex, UT Experimental Garden, UT Veterinary School and Crescent Bend Home and Garden. It also connects to the Third Creek Greenway which follows the creek upstream.

Parking and Trail Access

Volunteer Landing Park is the best place to park. It also has amenities like restrooms and drinking fountains. To get there, just take I-40 to James White Pkwy and then take the Neyland Dr. exit. The park is near the Gateway Marina.

Neyland Greenway Reviews

Nice trail along streams and the river. You do cross traffic a few times.

This trail is fine, but it is very poorly marked. One must cross busy intersections, where traffic is flying. Although it seems that the trail connects with the Sequoyah and Third Creek greenways, the connections are not at all obvious.
