Yankton, South Dakota hosts 40 miles of trails across the city and the Lewis & Clark Lake Recreation Area. The Highway 52 Trail serves as the linkage between the two trail systems, running parallel to County Road 52 from the western city limits, past open space and farmland, the National Fish Hatchery and Aquarium, to the marina at the lake. The trail is paved and suitable for multiple uses, including walking, jogging and bike riding.
Trail users can continue their journey along the Lewis and Clark Lake Trail, which offers even more opportunity to explore the natural beauty of this stretch of South Dakotan lakefront.
At the east end, you can park at Westside Park just on Spruce Street off Summit Street.
At the west end you can park at the Pierson Ranch Recreation Area on Toe Road.
Note that there is little to no shade along the trail but you can find water fountains at either end of the trail.
