A quiet, crushed-rock trail on the outskirts of the small city of Yankton, the Marne Creek West Trail provides a nice connection to a popular community dog park and recreation site. Much like the longer Auld-Brokaw Trail, this pathway largely follows the course of the Marne Creek, which forms a pleasant natural corridor through the heart of the community all the way to the Missouri River to the south.
The trail begins in the south at 23rd Street, where it heads northwest parallel to the BNSF railroad tracks. This short rail-with-trail segment ends as the trail reaches the creek, which it follows west to the Marne Creek West Greenway, a 13-acre park with a community garden and dog park. A short pathway that is perfect for quick jogs, walking dogs, and bikes whose tires can accommodate the gritty surface, the Marne Creek West Trail makes for a nice little addition to the area's trail network.
Parking and drinking fountains are available at the Marne Creek West Greenway park, located off of W City Limits Road north of 23rd Street.
