A public trail owned by Cortland County since the 1977 abandonment of a Lehigh Valley railroad line built by Ezra Cornell as the "Ithaca & Cortland" in 1872, The Cortland County Lehigh Valley Trail crosses east to west from the Lamont Circle subdivision of Cortland through the Lime Hollow Center for Environment and Culture (often just called the Lime Hollow Nature Center). Footpaths branch from the unpaved rail-trail onto forested Nature Center lands around and west of Gracie Road to the county line. Long neglected, the trail was adopted by Lime Hollow Nature Center and is now cleared and marked for pedestrian uses. Visitors of all ages can now enjoy this gentle trail nestled among wonderfully preserved mature hardwood forests and streams, home to countless species of birds and wildlife.
Note: Leashed dogs are not allowed on the trail, except for east of Gracie Rd. No other sections of this trail or others in the Lime Hollow Nature Center allow dogs. Bikes are also not allowed on the Lehigh Valley Trail (Cortland County)
Parking for this trail is located at 3270 Gracie Road, Cortland NY.
