Forming a two mile border around the western and northern ends of the Sandia Science and Technology Park and the Mirabella subdivision, an industrial and residential area just east of the massive Kirtland Air Force Base in southern Albuquerque, the Sandia Science and Technology Trail offers a great way for residents and workers to get around the area by foot or by bike. The asphalt trail runs along the sides of the main roads that form the perimeter of the neighborhood - due to the nature of the trail, there are many at-grade road crossings which will force you to slow down and exercise caution.
Along the route, the trail provides access to the numerous office complexes off of Innovation Parkway, the Manzano Mesa Park and Multi-Gen community center and its array of athletic and recreational facilities, and at the northeastern end the trail connects to the Juan Tabo Trail, allowing you to continue along the eastern edge of the neighborhood. Even at the fringes of suburban development, the Sandia Science and Technology Trail shows that off-road, multi-use transportation options are still a valuable community asset.
Parking is available along the northern end of the trail at Manzano Mesa Park, located at 501 Elizabeth Street SE, with an additional entrance located off of Stephen Moody Street SE just south of Southern Boulevard.
