The Suncoast Trail parallels the Suncoast Parkway for 54.1 miles through Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties.
About the Route
For its entire route, the Suncoast Trail follows its namesake Suncoast Parkway, a toll-road highway that stretches between FL-44 in Lecanto and W Lutz Lake Fern Rd. in Upper Tampa Bay.
The trail passes through a mix of suburban, agricultural, and natural areas, along which trail users will find rest areas and interpretive signs that illuminate the trail's historical significance and identify the local ecology.
One of the most impressive features along the route is the nearby Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve, which has beautiful waterways and scenic views of natural areas.
Connections
About 45 miles from the trail's northern endpoint, the Suncoast Trail meets the Starkey Wilderness Park Paved Trail.
At the trail's southern endpoint, the Suncoast Trail meets the Upper Tampa Bay Trail.
The Suncoast Trail runs between 4640-4472 FL-44 (Lecanto) and 6007 W Lutz Lake Fern Rd (Odessa).

This trail was our first of hopefully many rides in Florida. We used the trail head in Brooksville. Plenty of fee parking but reasonable at $5 (you’ll need the park mobile app). We went south for about 17 miles. Would agree with others that it is very noisy and also not very scenic. But it is paved which was nice. Bike traffic was very minimal. One set of restrooms 6 miles from where we started (at the athletic fields). Crossing traffic in some places was a bit daunting but in the very busy areas there were crosswalk traffic lights. We did see an armadillo on our ride back to the trail head we used. That was cool. All in all a great first Florida outing.
