Hop River State Park Trail

Terrific Trail

May, 2024 by 9q8skpdwwc

Just finished the whole trail, plus the Charter Oak Trail, from Columbia to Manchester, and back. 44 miles at 12.5 mph. A very gentle steady climb of about 500 feet to Bolton Notch, from the east. Also about 500 feet up the South end of Manchester. With the exception of a short stretch leaving Columbia, the trail is very rideable, in fine shape. Highly recommended!

Mattapoisett Rail Trail

Most scenic trail in MA

The Mattapoisett Rail Trail goes along the ocean and over marshland. It is absolutely beautiful. Although short, it seamlessly merges into the Fairhaven Rail Trail almost out to Fort Phoenix. Highly recommended.

Blackstone River Greenway

Woonsocket to Valley Falls area

May, 2024 by andrix

A very nice paved 10 mile (one way) trip with plenty of birds & turtles. Park at Rivers Edge Parking to get started. Along the way the posted history is interesting, there are 3 large dams to check out and on this beautiful sunny day lots of wildlife. Once you get to Valley Falls area the trail ends and on-street begins. We continued on for maybe 2 miles but the signs were not consistent and the traffic was troublesome enough we turned back. Our rating only applies to the paved 10 mile section.

Hanover Branch Rail Trail

great

Trail is well maintained and great for walking/running or biking. It’s all paved and cuts across residential areas of Rockland and Abington. The trail is mostly shaded by trees. Very pleasant

Washington Secondary Bike Path

Trash and and dog shit everywhere.

April, 2024 by jtheriault1225

It's a nice path, don't get me wrong, but people are trashy as hell. First of all, if this is labelled as a bike path, don't tell walkers to walk against bikers. Also, there's trash everywhere and dog crap on the actual path. Whoever lived in that area takes this path for granted and it shows. I would be thrilled to have a path like that near me. Pick up after yourselves - JC!

Arkwright Riverwalk

Southwest Corridor Park (Pierre Lallement Bike Path)

Serious safety concerns

April, 2024 by jmgarrett88

As others mention, this is a wonderful path for commuters and it’s great to be able to bike through the series of small neighborhood parks. The history of grassroots action that preserved this path and adjoining parks is also inspiring. But during the past 5 years the safety issues along this route have escalated. Many more people on small motorized vehicles are using the path illegally and those on scooters travel at very high speeds. None of these users use or understand path etiquette, so I am concerned that it is only a matter of time before there is a very serious accident. Ride cautiously during peak commuting times and stay far to the right as other users on electrically powered vehicles will pass at high speed and with no verbal warnings. Stay safe, everyone!

Assabet River Rail Trail

good trail except for the gap and the muddy section

April, 2024 by reg13

The part between Sudbury Rd and the wildlife refuge entrance at White Pond Rd is dirt and can be impassable mud. The rest of the gap is pretty sketchy, two-lane road with no shoulder. The wildlife refuge is great too.

Watertown Community Bike Path

extension of the Watertown Cambridge Greenway

April, 2024 by reg13

It extended the path a little bit to the west. This is a two-way separated lane next to Arsenal St, that is fine until it ends just when it’s needed most, leaving you to fend for yourself in a super dangerous intersection.

Watertown Linear Park Trail

pointless trail

April, 2024 by reg13

A mostly pointless path that doesn’t connect to anything because the rest of the rail route is gone. The city could make a connection through the parking lots at the east end so you can get to the Watertown Cambridge Greenway, which starts about 1/4 mile east of the harrowing intersection at Watertown Square, and the river paths.

Watertown-Cambridge Greenway

Important connector and not too crowded

April, 2024 by reg13

Now extends from Fresh Pond in Cambridge/Alewife to near Watertown Sq, and connects to the Charles river paths (at a few points) and many shopping needs. Pavement is good except a spot near School St.
