This trail has it all - from wide open vistas to cozy tree-covered paths - from casual strollers to runners to bikers - from water fountains to bathrooms to parks - and from animals in the wild to animals in the zoo! The trail is very well maintained- all cracks in the asphalt were tarred to prevent further deterioration. It’s a great place to escape the crazy traffic in Sioux Falls!

Route needs updating. It says it starts at 8th Ave but it’s really 9th Ave. Parked at business after asking for permission. Route no longer crosses Highway 60 as shown. It goes along the highway and up to 170th and then across and down the other side of 60. The paths up and down these embankments are not for the faint of heart - very large rocks. The trail itself was fun and nicely mowed - just watch out for the badger and gopher holes!
Blue Mound Trail has been newly resurfaced in 2025. A very picturesque ride along the cliff line and into the state park campground. This connects to the city of Luverne which has trail that runs along perimeter of town and also Ashby Trail. Totally worth the trip as you can ride more than 20 miles round trip when combining all. Take 16 brewery is located adjacent in Luverne for a cold drink and a pizza!!
Trail has some really pretty views of the prairie and wooded areas near rock river. Nice and short, out and back memorial trail. I enjoyed it.
We rode from Yankton Park and went the opposite direction of the Falls Park and so glad we did. There is some trail detours as they are working on sections which did create a little confusion but the app helped. I would also say that there are asphalt trails which we all know end up with cracks to contend with. This is the route to take so as you get to the switchbacks prior to Falls Park it is down hill and a fun ride. The rest of the trail was awesome, more sunny than shaded but would definitely recommend as worth your time. It’s like a sightseeing trail with golf courses and zoos and tons of parks.
While the part of the trail on the Woodstock is freshly paved, the first 10 miles or so from Pipestone to the east are in pretty rough shape. You will damage your bike if you're not careful and paying attention to the worst of the cracks. Trails like this are what make me appreciate the crushed limestone approach to trail building.
This is the back bone of Sioux Falls ¿ Plus falls park. Lol Had a family ride enjoyed it very much Other than it was a hot day Easy ride if you go the right direction One hill and it’s not all that bad Seen lots of wild life along the river You ride all the way around town but you really don’t seen much of it which to me make it very nice Nice rest areas with water
This is a great small town bike trail! Wide enough in most places to accommodate multiple riders meeting. A bridge over or tunnel under Highway 75 would be a nice touch as that is a very busy state highway. Would like to see it connect to a nearby community someday soon.
