Mendota Trail

disappointing

September, 2023 by joglazewski

Wasn’t sure what to expect after reading the reviews, and heard that the entire trail was open. Rode my hybrid with 38 mm tires. First .6 mile was smooth, wide, asphalt. Surface changed to ballast , following natural grade , including roots, old rails and ties. and natural dirt single track. Did follow wooded setting .

Mendota Trail

Rapidly becoming my favorite trail in the area.

I've had the privilege of enjoying many rides along The Mendota Trail, and each one has been an absolute delight. This trail offers a mesmerizing blend of natural beauty that never fails to leave me in awe.

The trail is accessible to all, making it a wonderful place for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Simply the Best!

We rode our EBikes from Abingdon to Damascus and back to Abingdon for a total of 32 miles. The trail is wide and very well maintained. It was mostly shady and we had a fantastic time looking at the gorgeous scenery. The trestles were wonderful. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. We stopped in Damascus at the park for a picnic-break. (Most restaurants were closed due to Labor Day). We’ve ridden from Whitetop to Damascus in the past but LOVED this part of the trail too. Mostly flat with some ups and downs but no problem on our e-bikes! We will definitely return!

Mendota Trail

Gorgeous Ride

September, 2023 by lisamartel27

We biked the trail September 3, 2023 and the center section was complete. We started in Bristol and enjoyed every mile. Shaded, gorgeous scenery, interesting areas to view and we loved the trestles. We were unsure how far the ride was so we turned around at mile 9 and returned to Bristol. This would be stunning with the leaves turning. We’ll be back!

Mendota Trail

The whole 12.5 miles is open

September, 2023 by pyattjm

The entire trail is finished! It’s super shady. We rode from Bristol to Mendota and back. Coming back it’s a steady climb for about 6 miles. Parts of it will beat you up without suspension. There’s a cute store/eatery on the Mendota side. On the Bristol side there are bathrooms that should open soon.

Erwin Linear Trail

needs updated

August, 2023 by eulermath87

This trail has a lot of potential but it needs to be updated. The asphalt has so many buckles and is dangerous because many people have tripped and fallen. The bridge has been closed for over a year with no promise of upgrades. Therefore one begins on the trail then gets on a road for half a mile and back on trail.

Loved it!

Beautiful scenery! A lot of the ride is shaded through the trees. The trail is well maintained. Love how long it is too!

Erwin Linear Trail

Awesome trail!!!

Very pleasant trail (bike riders). Was bumpy but would take that for asphalt any day. A little narrower than others but still very doable. Excellent scenery and moderate rise and falls. Will definitely do this again! 4.5 stars.

I loved the winding nature and the beautiful scenery! Only downside was very bumpy areas where the pavement came up. But loved the ride!

To jnjtenn who did a review in March 2023

Our group of 4 just did the Va. Creeper Trail from Whitetop to Damascus on our e-bikes yesterday! We used Shuttle Shack to get us and our bikes to the top. It was no problem at all, saw many other e-bikes too. Maybe the non motorized just means gas engines like mini bikes? It was a wonderful day on a magnificent trail… we all loved it!

My wife and I completed the trail yesterday and it was a pleasure to ride. The scenery was beautiful and the trail was maintained very well. We hope to ride the trail again this fall.

Kingsport Greenbelt

Nice Trail

Asphalt trail that runs along the river and through the city of Kingsport. Easy to navigate and ride with just a few places that interact with traffic. We generally see several folks on the trail so keep your head up and enjoy
