Riverwalk Greenway (Pigeon Forge)

Beautiful trail

November, 2019 by wirenut7171

I really have to congratulate Pigeon Forge on this one. This trail along the river is very well done. If you park at Patriot Park you leave the park and cross the street then follow sidewalk past several houses before you get to where it looks like bike trail so it can be confusing if you don't know that. Also when you get to the Island you have to cross a couple of bridges and take a right where the trail goes behind a building back to the river so also confusing. My first time on this trail I had to ask an Island employee. Very worth it though! Trail goes under the bridges so you are not crossing the parkway.

Veterans Boulevard Greenway

Very hilly

November, 2019 by wirenut7171

This trail is alongside Veterans Parkway in Pigeon Forge. It's a good ride if you like a lot of hills because almost none of it is flat. You will either be riding uphill or coasting down pretty much the entire way. At the Sevierville end the trail goes back towards town, past an old church and to the community center, which is also a great place to park and use the bathroom.

Maryville-Alcoa Greenway

Fabulous Greenway but Not Well Marked

June, 2019 by rablalock

It's been a few years since we've ridden this Greenway. We still love it but found it unnecessarily frustrating today. The main parts of the Greenway are obvious. Moving between various sections, primarily at the parks (Bicentennial/Greenbelt and Charles West Amphitheater) that have multiple paths and when on the the sidewalks along the road, we found ourselves doubling back after hitting numerous dead ends or simply sensing we were going the wrong way. Even with a map. The problem is there's not adequate signage. I remember having challenges in the past, but today was rough. (Note: I'm usually exceptional with map reading, sign reading, and sensing my way. Not today!)

We started at Sandy Springs Park as we always do. We may try something different next time. Yes, we will ride this one again and again. It's a great set of connected trails. Just with the signage was better.

Great Day on the Greenbelt

May, 2019 by ajw

We parked at Stonebrook Pl, about the halfway point. Riding east takes you through scenic woods along Reedy Creek, ending at a small waterfall just before the trail goes up the hill to Exchange Place. Turning around and heading west to Rotherwood takes you through downtown, neighborhoods, and along the Holston River. While going through downtown, you are only 2 blocks from Pals. Stop and have a peanut butter chocolate milkshake. Then take a ride on the carousel next to Food City. About 15miles round trip, mostly shaded, flat, and paved. Be aware that the trail runs right along Reedy Creek, so if there was a heavy rain, the section east of Stonebrook will be under water for a day or two.

Maryville-Alcoa Greenway

great greenway!!!!

September, 2018 by lambertkayla2015

Great greenway!!! Nice and peaceful! Majority shaded. Pavement smooth and well cared for. Maps of this area not so good- hard to follow. Easy to follow and access when actually on greenway though. Best greenway in town and surrounding area!!!

Kingsport Greenbelt

Nice easy trail for a fun ride

June, 2018 by SoFlaKettwiesel

Parked at the “Kingsport Greenbelt Parking” area on Stonebrook Pl, close to the middle of the trail. A porta-potty is at the North end of the parking lot. We went East, alongside the Reddy Creek most of the time. Changes from urban to rural and back in short order, Good separation from most roads. Hilly toward the east end, pavement stops at the 0.4 mile marker. Went west for the rest of the trail. Trail under construction between Cherokee Village Drv and Branch St. Some signage for the trail, but Trailink map more helpful. Restrooms and parking up the stairs (36.551001, -82.596088) just west of Centennial Boat Yard Park. Western end of the trail on the South Fork of the Holston River. A very nice 18.5 mile ride, they did a good job on this trail, Don’t miss it if your in the area.

Maryville-Alcoa Greenway

Enjoyable ride!

October, 2017 by opstadp

Just ride this trail October 14th. Nicely paved trail all the way and pretty ride with a creek alongside at times and a few ponds and fountain. Some short hills in the Alcoa sections. Easy access from various places. We parked in the parking lot behind the Maryville courthouse and jumped right on the trail there and headed north towards Alcoa. When we came into town, we stopped first at the Maryville Visitor Center and they gave us a map and highlighted the trail and key points for us. This is a good idea because though the trail is great it is not marked in a number of places so easy to get puzzled as to which way to go. We did 18 miles total by going up and back and then a few miles south from the parking lot.

LOVELY IN WILDERNESS TRAIL STATE PARK

August, 2017 by sweetcat

Biked this trail from The Wilderness Trail State Park Visitors Center out East about 2 miles to the end then back and explored the reconstructed fort and Martin's Station. We then proceeded West for about 6.2 miles. All of this was well cared for trail. There are buffalo in one section on the trail and you can walk up steps to get close to their fenced field. We were cautioned by the ranger at the Visitors Center that the trail deteriorated once it left the State Park grounds. It certainly did. It ran right along route 58 and was over grown with weeds and a poor base. We turned around before reaching the National Park as riding beside the highway on a shifting base wasn't much fun. There are educational signs along the trail and we enjoyed learning about the history of the trail. The scenery is beautiful and we didn't meet another biker only a few walkers. It was a very nice stop on our way through the area.

Loose loose gravel

September, 2016 by dbosch777

Road this today and unfortunately didn't make it past the part near the road that is way to Streep with the gravel. Ended up on my side with a slit in my shin and had to head back to the road and back to the car. Beautiful day but don't recommend this on a bike.

Kingsport Greenbelt

Great ride for us.

August, 2016 by roxy56

My husband and I both in our 60's did this ride and loved it. It's a well paved trail and easy. We took our time and stopped to take pictures and enjoyed being out on the bikes. We began at the Exchange and rode to the end, then we rode back to the oppisite end. Stayed only on paved trail.
A deer even crossed in front of us. We plan to do this again maybe I'm the fall.
